Bigdawg and Abu,
Here is a link to a guy who has already done what you all are considering...making a dead PCI card act as a cooler for your vid card.
He apparently figured out the circle/square paradox...

That was the plan from the beggining. We were gona cut off most of the card but leave the connectors for support and stuff. Im prob gona use some old modem or Gcard
VB, please check out my question in the topic about the 9500 being modded into a 9700. I think you can answer my question in there.
Just leave it stock. You only wanted to play an occasional game of BF 1942, Right?
Edit: Also didn't you just tell me:
No, I dont plan on overclocking my Graphics card or my ram. Just my CPU maybe later...but nothing will be overclocked for now or the next month or 2.
nice! finally something helpful. i actually found a similar dude on forums.extremeoverclocking.com. but he made a brace instead of cutting a hole in a pci card.Originally posted by clocker@24 December 2003 - 14:23

I've been using speedfan 4.09Originally posted by RGX@23 December 2003 - 20:46
speedfan 4.09
But I've been getting some strange readings and I have a Couple of questions
1. One of my temperatures says 96 C but it's not clear what this is for, would this be normal for something to be this temperature or is it miss-reading something?
(its not changed since I first installed the program) but there has'nt been a problem with my computer and its on about 14 hours a day!
2. There are no speeds for my Fans, Do you have to do something before it reads your fans speeds?
Cheers
Open the program ( double click on the temp in your systray) and click the "configure" button.
Then hit the "Speed" tab and check the box for the fan you wish to monitor.
Likewise, hit the "Temperature" tab and you can see what that oddball reading is coming from.

well, if its your chip, it should have shutdown or be melting
It must be an abnormal reading, i doubt any of your parts would go that high without failing
