Ok when I went right into the bios it had it running at 100X11. Its still there I have changed NOTHING. It was set to 1100. I dont know why it didnt autodetect to put it on 1.8 or w/e it runs on but it didnt.
FUCK....

ok first things first.... i think the pot in the virtual account grew enough for us to all win about 1000 dollars because we all bet that it would have AT LEAST one problem lol....

*virtual account pays up everyone 1000*

second.... bigdawg check what i posted

actually..... Computer Manuals are your friend (more than google)...
did you read ALL the manual? and yes, I mean ALL of it...including those "troubleshooting" sections that are sometimes useful.....

let me quote on my mobo manual
"Q: Why does my AMD 133FSB cannot be autodtected by the mainboard?
A: Due to AMD CPU design, CPU FSB 133 will not be autodetected by the motherboard. So user need to set the FSB manually to 133."

[edit]my athlon xp is a 1800+ t-bred, and runs at 266...thats why i gotta set up to 133[/edit]

because this thread got WAY 2 long, i don't remember what processor you bought. I'm assuming it should be a barton 2500 or something around that....where the FSB is 333, then you have to set the FSB to 166 (my best guess)...

and dude.... DONT mess up with multipliers before getting the system up....

bad idea

Dawg, get your HDD on it's own IDE cable.
On my board there is a primary IDE channel ( it's socket is blue) and that's where the HDD plugs in.
The optical drives (CD,DVD) go on the secondary IDE channel (black socket).

Have you set your boot order yet?

Your FSB should be set to 200. To start, your multiplier will be like,10 or 10.5.

Seems to me that I remember you saying something like "Oh Clocker, you crazy, the multiplier isn't is important as the FSB, which can be set in 3MHz steps..."
When was that?
Yesterday? Day before?

My, how time flies....

lol exactly. I didnt even mess with my FSB untill I got stuff running..which I never did.

Also good guess its a 2500XP but its running at 1100 because the FSB is at 100X11. I didnt want to mess with anything like I said though.

GODD I dont think anyone knows whats wrong...When I put my XP disc in and press F1 at startup to conitnue, It gives me that damn stop message so I cant format C: drive or install windows or nothing.

@ Clocker, Alright Ill try to Put everything on its own cable. And also I NEVER said anything about how you were crazy about the Multiplier, I just asked you what the diff was between changing the Multiplier and the FSB. Mr. Elmo gave a very good explanation and I now know whats so good about changing the Multiplier. Which I CAN do. Shouldnt my FSB be set to 166 to run at 333? Im running a 2500Barton.

I dont know. When everything comes up, It says how much memory I have and stuff. At the bottom is says press DEL to enter BIOS or F1 to continue.

What should my startup order be? Right now its Floppy, HDD, CD. I dont even have a floppy in this system, and it always says floppy error, or something like that. I changed the startup to have it boot from the CD first, but It wouldnt load anything, just a blank screen. And it didnt beep...it beeeepeeeeepeepeeped..like wierd lol. So I reset the CMOS and could get back into the BIOS.

Your mobo manual should have a "beep code" to tell you what that means.
If you don't have a floppy installed make sure that you disable "Floppy seek at boot"

Your boot sequence should be CD then HDD.

Also disable "Halt on all errors"...change that to "Halt on no errors".

Yeah...but when I did that it didnt come up with nothin at all. And then when I pressed F1 for continue..I got that damn stop screen....which I dont think has to do with the order, because it was doing something with the cd...and got a stop errorrrrr ugh
