SPD settings are the standard speeds and timings for the memory module in question - these settings are hard-wired into each memory module and the motherboard reads these and adjusts its settings accordingly.Originally posted by clocker@28 December 2003 - 19:20
Lamsey, what are "spd settings"
BTW, I see you like Mike Oldfield. Tubular Bells has long been a favorite of mine. Just listened to it a couple of days ago, in fact.
Needless to say, SPD settings are the most reliable settings to keep your RAM at.
With regards to Mike Oldfield: damn fine musician and composer - sharing shedloads of his stuff on Soulseek![]()
Just be aware that if you do that then your overclocking.Originally posted by _John_Lennon_@28 December 2003 - 15:15
Just set it at 11x and the FSB at 200, and get used to it at that.
I like Tubular Bells also. Great stuff!

Remember that even if you mean it as a joke, others may not see it that way.
With regards to your CPU frequency, the Athlon XP 2500+ has an FSB frequency of 333MHz and a core frequency of 1833MHz; thus the failsafe settings are:
RAM: 166MHz (effective 333MHz)
FSB: 166MHz (effective 333MHz)
Multiplier: 11x (11x166=~1833MHz)

Sorry for cluttering the thread, but I was wondering how the university is treating you, Lamsey; if you are learning anything new about the world of computer science. Is school easy for you? As I understand as a CS major you need to do a lot of math... B)
Learning a few things here and there, but a lot of it is old ground. That should change soon![]()
I got an 84% average in maths for my first semester, so no problem there - yet.
y would u make a joke like that....you were the one w/ like celeron 555mhz computer for like a couple of yearsOriginally posted by bigdawgfoxx@29 December 2003 - 02:01

ah the good old days... when i was only 6 and the p166 was top of the line
had to choose btween 8 megs and 16 megs of ram... the same choice is now left here (512 or 1gb)
B) i suddenly feel soooooo cool. i wub kliteboard!![]()
even though apologies are accepted.... this isnt enough. its the fact that you call someone a motherfucker or a dip shit (yes those were your words) just because your 16-year old mind wants to what pisses me off. I never insulted you. I just merely pointed your stubornness in learning something.Originally posted by bigdawgfoxx@28 December 2003 - 19:01

Its really not something I should really care about (helping you, that is), but I still do it cuz i enjoy letting ppl know the things i learned one way or another.
about the poor thing.... i think lamsey already summed up by "it wont get you ANYWHERE in life"...
as you said, we are all friends, it is a help board for ppl to learn.
You either take the knowledge or leave it, but dont mess with people just cuz you dont agree with them.
