I already have a stick of Kingston 512 pc2700.
This is for a gaming system.
Is it worth getting another identical stick?
Will there be a noticable difference?
All information helpful.

yes, i'd say if you can afford it, it's worth getting another 512MB of ram

I doubt you'd notice very much difference, and by the time you really need 1024MB you'll want a faster variant.

i got an extra 250 points in 3d mark 03 just by adding 512MB of ram (and remember that 3d mark 03 is very heavily weighted towards the graphics card)

more ram does make a difference to gaming

Yes, but not too much. Very few games even nowadays will use up all of the remaining RAM from 512MB, unless you have shedloads of programs running at the same time. By the time having 1024MB becomes important, you'll want the faster RAM.

It all comes down to whether you want 100% supreme performance now or to plan your spending for the future.

If you have the money and want a good upgrade, and want to multitask big time, go for it, with that amount and a decent cpu you can have one hell of a load of apps running simultaneously

I will get a new 512MB stick soon, 700 or so megs of ram will rule

I was thinking of adding another 512ram soon as well,
Doe's it have to be the same make as the excisting make of ram?
(obviously both have got to be pc2700)

I dont think so, but I would try and get the same make anyway so they had the same timings etc...Ive only ever used same brands of RAM for my builds, so I dont know for sure
