ok, i've used that doom9 stuff and couldn't understand it. then i tried a program called hjslit and i could cut a video in half, but then i couldn't play the movie. well, what i'm looking for is a program that will take a movie (avi) that's like 1.4gb and cut it in half. u know, so u have 2 700mb files and so i can burn them on a cd. i've tried this be4 and i did get the file to cut in half, but i couldn't watch it. windows didn't recognize the file or something. could someone plz help me out with this and also point me in the right direction for the program i need to use. and if it's not 2 much trouble (lol) explain how i can do what i want to do. thx!

if your planing on making it into a vcd/svcd
why not encode it first to mpeg (you have to eventually any way) grab tmpgenc and after it encodes open the tools and split it
you could also look into kvcd, you can fit the whole thing on 1 disc, no splitting required
last case/worst option IMO, is splitting with easy video splitter, it works but is problematic, causes frames to be out of sync and sometimes crashes for no reason

Open VirtualDub-open file you are doing-go to file information write down # of frames then half it-press left hand black at very right looks like a flag on its side-now press the gray slide bar and hold the mouse sliding it to the right do this slow so you can see the frame numbers and stop at the frame you want or as near as you can let it go-press the other (right hand) flag-now check under the video and audio that the dot is on Direct stream if not put them on it-go to save file name it say cd1 and where too and save.
When done it will go back to the program notice the blue line go to edit at the top down to delate press it don't worry the movie is still there whole-press left hand flag drag bar to the very end press right hand flag and save you now have two halfs and the full one.
