Thread: Winxp Install

    hiya guys,
    i got a copy of winXP pro off kazaa.. i have got it burned onto a 650MB CD-ReWritable disk at low speeds with nero but when i try and run the setup file i get the error: SETUP caused an invalid page fault in module KRNL386.exe at 0002:00007bf8.

    im trying to install onto of windows 98 first edition...

    any ideas?

    ok, pity that i have to get anothe version 'coz ive been downloading that one for days
    well, ive had a very kind offer from a member that i have accepted, will get it soon

    [unless anyone reading this can think of a way to correct the error i have now..]

    <edit> Have already deleted the corrupted file, dont believe in sharing them... </edit>

    this really is wierd,
    i ran the setup program off the CD on my pc already running windows xp and it works..

    why dont u use the copy of xp yr already runnin or backup the i386 files etc

    hiya,
    i have tried installing xp on my other pc with the CDs ive already got but it doesnt work..

    Also, "backup the i386 files" - how do i do that and what will it do

    backin up the 1386,docs,support and valueadd folders and the setup and win51*.* files of the xp yr alreay running will make yr own new copy of xp
    plus u need a boot sector file to make it bootable like an original copy

    404 file not found

    then do i just stick all that onto a CD-ROM as an image or data then run it?

    since you said about the boot sector file im guessing thats what im missing, screenshot of what i do have is below:



    thats what in the main folder, so i guess im missing that...
    if ya can gimme a link to a working one then i wont love you, but ill be really greatful
