FC,
Whatever you do, DON'T get a cheap DVD burner.
I've been researching them lately ( I was going to get one myself) and the cheap ones are so picky about media that it drives people nuts. And blank DVDs ain't cheap.

I decided to wait 6 months or so.

Hmmmmm.I do not know about that Digital Camera now.

8x DVD Burner for $160.But then I have to get rid of this 52x TDK CD Burner. No good for nothing anymore.

What good is a DVD Burner besides making a Disc that holds 4.7 GB of Data?

Staples is a rip off anyway.

Find a local warehouse type supplier.

well for a dvd burner, thers formats to think abnout +/- etc, so if you go down that route get a dual format, or get the Lite-On 401s (which is +) and stick the firmware for the 411s on it....dead simple and you get a dual format 4 speed for (<£85) cheap

The drive might burn at 8x, but the fastest media right now can only handle about 2.5x. And the discs are too expensive. My wife got me one for Christmas. I installed it, but I haven't used it yet because it only came with one DVD-R and I'm afraid I'll make a coaster out of it. I guess it'll be nice to be able to fit a whole movie on one disc, but for now I'm just waiting till I find a good deal on blanks.

BTW I still have my 52x CD-RW installed as well, since the DVD-drive only burns CD-R's at 40x.
