It&#39;s clear beyond reasonable doubt. In the past 12 months or so, Celtic have played two mid-table English teams in competitive matches. They scored 6 and conceded just one. They beat both teams in the ties which they played.

They have a massive, dedicated support base and, if playing in the Premiership, would be able to generate massive revenue - perhaps in time enough to rival the likes of Man. Utd. et al. The idea that they would desert their team is laughable - Parkhead was never empty during the days of Rangers&#39; &#39;9 in a row&#39;.

They have a versatile, young squad, with a good mix of young Scots backing an experienced European side. They have one of the best managers in the business, who is coveted by Man. Utd., Liverpool and many other illustrious teams.


Ergo, to imply that Celtic would flop in the Premiership is to talk crap.

I&#39;m a Rangers fan, and even i&#39;ll admit that Celtic would do quite well in the Premiership, and they would most probably fare better than Rangers. Neither of them would be relegated, especially given the financial boost that playing in the Premiership would bring. The TV package the Old Firm get at the moment is paltry and dwarved even by some of the Nationwide League&#39;s deals.

The fact that Rangers and Celtic would be playing tougher opponents week in and week out would lead to their improvement, not their demise from top-flight football. A true football fan would know this. It is having to play the same mediocre teams 4 times per year that has caused Scottish football to become stale.

As I said, I do not claim that Celtic would be expected to beat Man. Utd., Arsenal or Chelsea. However there is no other English side that Celtic would fear. As such it is preposterous to infer that Celtic would do badly in the Premiership.

How many English football team were involved in the semi-final stages of European football last year?

The point that a lot of people forget is that it is the Club which would be going. Not just the first Team.

The first team of both clubs would do fine and achieve mid table. Give them (the club) an extra revenue of £15,000,000 per year and ask them to compete with clubs that are losing money and have a fraction of the support. Not really a problem. Certainly over a few years

I would welcome Celtic to the English league expecting a very competitive match and wouldn&#39;t assume my team would simply walk over them because they&#39;re Scottish.
