Thread: Iexplore And Explorer

1. #11
A simple resort is always reformat. I dont know why people refer that. I asked a problem few times and the first repliers were always the one's to say reformat, not to mention that the problem was fixed with a few tweaks. Do guys even know what reformat does and when it is needed?

...
Try defragmenting and get some sort of registry checker tool to find out the problems in registry.

personally, I know what a format is, I've done it tons of times.. its jsut that if i did that right now, I wouldnt have anything to install on the formatted drive... so it woudl be pointless... my cd rom is broken.. so i cant install anything.

What I really need to know is what registry checkers are safe and effective. I ran Norton Utilities and it seemed to do someting, but the main problem is still there - that it takes about 3 or 4 minutes for explorer or internet explorer to load, and internet explorer is pretty much unusable because it takes the same amount of time to go from one web page to the other, while mozilla(which im using now) goes quick as ever.

Anyway, i didnt trust that regseeker cus it was about to fix something like 1100 entries in my registry.. im not about to hit delete without knowing exactly what all of those are.

It seems like you are having problems with windows shell. IE and explorer etc. could be the results of this. How about reinstalling your windows?

Oh I missed the cdrom breaking part

Before messing with your computer atleast have that so you can atleast reload windows. Regseeks or programs like this only find entries those are linking to something that doesnt exist or has a garbage value. You cant really do much with it.

The solution is quite simple... use Linux/Firebird.

J/P. I had the EXACT same problem before, tried everything short of a low-level format, and eventually, that machine turned into a minifridge.

yea that was my problem prior to this one... i got rid of all my spyware/adware, but along with it, i also got rid of some registry entries that i now know where vital to the windows shell.
