There should be some sort of documentation or indication on the actual harddrive.
It differs from company to company and from model to model.
well a m8 gave me this hard drive and he gave it to me how it is. no documents or anything. its a maxtor or something like that.
I've no idea then.
You know what size it is? Try the model number (should be on the HDD) on Maxtor's site.
yeah if i unplug my pc again i can look at the modle number and shit and he thinks its either a 25 a 35 or a 40 gb. but there is no unirvsal way it had 8 pins on it and 2 little jumpers.
Just search for the model number on google and im sure you will find some sort of manual.
[SIZE=1]AMD 4200 X2 @ 2.65Ghz, ASRock 939-VSTA
1.75GB PC3200, 2 X 160GB Seagate w/ 8MB Buffer
HIS Radeon X800 Pro, Antec Super Lanboy Aluminum
FCOL, open the case and have a bloody look, then.Originally posted by peerzyboy@1 January 2004 - 19:02

You are going to need to know the make and model; there is no way around that.
if your font size is this small i'll add you to my ignore list because you're wasting my time, OK?
done it.
i got the make and modle but just mucked around with the jumpers and it worked.
Yay
So what did you do set as master, slave cls? what?
\
Sorry but it helps other people when you explain what you've done
On most modern hard drives there's some marking to show where the pins should go. Have a look to see if there are letters M, S and CS on the drive.
