Good Research Site.

Google is basically a crapshoot for reliable information, especially when the person you wan't information on is pretty obscure. Does anyone know of a site that maybe has an index of sites with biographies or online textbooks. Thanks.

Best thing to do is go to the library and look in guides, repertoria or bibliograpies. ARBA is pretty good for that ( just ask at the desk, almost every library has an ARBA)

If you can tell me what you are looking for I can look it up in my courses and give you a few URLs

this is one of those last minute questions, i went to the library briefly but took down notes for the wrong person. (not my fault) anyway, im doing an ethics paper on Kenneth Kaunda, former president, "father" of Zambia. I would be suprised if it was included in your curiculum, but if it is, i would greatly appreciate some urls.

If there's still time to look in books (and presuming you know how to work with guides and bibliographies):

Africa bibliography, 1984-. Manchester, 1985-. Annual
New one every year with an addition of 3000 titles.


The next few books are all biographical bibliographies. My guess is that in one of those it would be easy to find the information you are looking for:

LIPSCHUTZ(M.R.), RASMUSSEN(R.K.). Dictionary of African historical biography. Chicago, 1986
In this one you only need to look in the supplement, the rest is about the 19th century

DICKIE(J.),RAKE(A.). Who's who in Africa.The political, military and business leaders in Africa.London, 1973

The new Africans. A guide to contemporary history of emergent Africa and it's leaders. London, 1967
Don't know if they will contain anything about Kaunda, might be a bit early, but it's possible it's been updated.

This one is a lexicum, may not be of much use, but it's possible you find something in the profiles of the countries.

MORRISON(D.G.) a.o. Black Africa.A comparative handbook. New York, 1989.





If you do have more time go look in that ARBA (=American Reference Books Annual). They are rather complete and get updated every year. Start from there and you're almost certain to find what you need.
