Hi all,
I currently use Peer Guardian and have for some time, but the more I read on the net about '50% of downloaders' dropping out, I get more and more nervous, unless that is just propaganda spread by the RIAA to scare us off. What are some good methods to keep 'invisible?' (getting nervous)
Thanks,
Mike

PG ain't enough. It leaves ports and protocols unprotected. You need a good firewall with a comprehensive rule set.
Here's what I currently use: (opinions welcome)
Sygate Personal Firewall PRO
Blocklist Manager
A healthy hosts file
Webwasher can't hurt.

KL++'s built-in ip blocker is much stronger than Peer Guardian's.
If you're only using KL++, keep the built-in ip blocker up-to-date PLUS block the listing of all your shared files by other users and that should be sufficient.

How do you update the IP ranges? I click on the update button and get
IP database not found of something similar.

What K++ version are you using. I assume 2.4.3. Get KLR and update from that one.

You can go to http://www.aldostools.com and get a newer version of the IP blocker updater, as that bug has been solved now.

The IP ranges can be MANUALLY updated to the blocklist file ( BannedIpRanges.txt ) by opening BannedIpRanges.txt in Wordpad or M$ WORD and copying and pasting new entries in.
New entries can be gotten from Peer Guardian's website. Use the Guarding.p2p file as the pure text one sometimes truncates entries. Just open the guarding.p2p like it is a pure text file in WordPad (because it IS a pure text file!

Don't listen to the aboce comment, their is very little chance to be caught by an organization, and even less with them targetting you.

Double Agent
the blocklist is pretty much useless even if updated regularly
if they really wanted to catch you they still can
no way around it unless u r on a good proxy server
