You should disable it while you extract them, then enable then scan the folder.

Disabling your AV might not be to bad an idea. I forgot to disable Avast and it went NUTS when I started downloading the .rar. Not the first time I've seen the virus pop-up, but I aint never seen it scroll! It scrolled for a while, too! Damn.....
As for those scared of catching a virus, been there, done that....my first was the Stealth_b boot virus. Anybody remember that little gem? Hmm....I still got a copy on a floppy from college. It's in a copy of VGAPlantets. Can't finsh the game cuz of it......ah well.

I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you. Trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave.
I will work to elevate you just enough to bring you down.
ok. dowloading now. will test it with AVG7 pro without heuristic and with and also
Kaspersky.
results will follow.
edit: Results.
Well First I'd like to pronounce the injury I just got. It's called RSI for prssing a lot of OK's during the tests.
Here are the results of the jury. Kaspersky 4.5.0.94 let me down beyond words. Maybe I just didn't configure Kaspersky the right way but scanning 594 files and finding only 75! is totally out of order. Kaspersky is now deinstalled.
AVGPro7 (7.0.209) scanned 602 files (?) and found 562. This is a scare but I think I can explain that due to the many trojans in the test.
Although anti-virus manufacures try to make an all-round programm, the fact still is they are anti-virus and not specialized in trojans. So if an anti-virus programm doesn't recognises a trojan it is not the end of the world bur surely it is a sign to get a good trojanhunter.

It seems that the majority of us using Norton & McAfee are catching all BUT 6 in our tests, aside from those using other AV software...
nostalgia - I think it's time to find a better AV, your results are appalling.
So... these 6 that the 2 main AV did not detect, someone mentioned these as 'droppers'. Would this mean Norton and McAfee came top of the league?
