atleast do a "netstat -an" at the command promt with nothing on the net eg browser everything closed and see what ports are open just incase
not sure how to do that..mind explaining it to me?...yea..the ping is not so bad now...but its still pretty low for my connection...this is the highest it got
shut down everything on the net then go make a coffee or sit an wait for 5 mins or so
then click on the start button either under "programs" or "accessorys" you wil find "comand prompt" <-- dos promt, c prompt......
start it and type "netsat -an" without quotes alist of all your open ports will be displayed with the comps they are connected to the right

you can do this whenever you want but will get a better resault if you wait for all the "known" net activeity to die down
EDIT: added "known"
