1. to that gamecube dude: that mobo is the best one u can get for intels.
2. y he would oc, cuz he feels like it
3. yea, wat vb said, if ur buying that mobo and using air cooling to cool a oced cpu, that's wasting money. that mobo is for people who buy wc or some other cooling and oc to max their cpu can handle. if ur only using air cooling, u won't be goin to far from wat u have now. so there's no point for getting this board if u can't oc too much. this board is for crazy ocers who want their cpu to go up to 4ghz+.
4. don't use the dell psu. u'll need a good psu if u want to oc. and don't froget that dell makes "family" "easy to use" pcs. ur making something much better. get a new psu
5. that mobo is not necessary for ocing. and it too expensive. use the extra $ to buy good ram. get pc4000 or something if ur serious bout ocing
6. if ur ocing heavily, get wc. and u might need a new case for that. dell's tend to be somewhat small to fit oc in

PAT only increase performance by 3-5%. not too much. btw, anyone here know where i can find detailed specs on my board? it's a Powercolor 865APE. I just emailed IBUYPOWER if they can give me any specs. I've searched everywhere, and no one has any specs for this thing. powercolor's site is crappy as ever. btw, does flashing my bios enable some of the ocing features such as fsb:ram ratio and vcore voltage?

Holy fucking shit! why in god's name do u need a mobo which has a cooling system on the voltage controllers!!??!!

Gn, the voltages you have going to your system are a very integral part of the overclocking balance that you must keep in check. Its mostly the Mofsets their cooling there, and those do just what I just mentioned, regulate the voltage going to your motherboard and perepherials. Thats why you need to keep them cool, so they can operate at full ability.
i understand that, but i really dont see a need to overclock that thing in the first place! [/b][/quote]
hell i'd like to put mine in a freezer.. jus to keep it coo so it doesnt cause the room to heat up.

Buying a new motherboard just so you can overclock more?

On an already extremely fast (3 GHz) system.

That doesn't sound cost effective to me.
my point exactly

sorry 2 all those who misunderstood me (it was probly my fault anyway)
