I thought that the mice built a machine that would tell them the meaning of life, it came back with 42. Then they built a machine to discover the question (Earth).

So the meaning of life is 42, but no-one knows the question...

They weren&#39;t mice when they built Deep Thought. They were pan dimensional hyper beings.

They took on the form of mice when the Earth was built, to run the program.

It broke down like this.......

The answer to The meaning of life, the universe and everything was the question of life the universe and everything, so in actual fact the answer was the question which is 6 x 9 = 42
