Thread: What Is The Point?

  1. #71
You are born, you go to school, get a girlfreind, get dumped, Get a job, get money, live happy being single, buy a car and a house, get married, have kids, work for the mortgage, watch the kids grow up, see them get married, they put you in a nursing home, they visit you, they get married and have kids, they dont visit you as much, you start thinking your sons name is margaret, you die.

Its a big circle you see and their is no way of changing it.

Point to life, their is no point we are trapped.

When life begins to suck, we look for the meaning to life to live for a reason.

    Have a nice day

It's just occured to me that there is very little point in "Life" , all we do is plod thru life pissing people off and being pissed off with the ocassional laugh in the middle.

So in all honesty what is the point?

Just seems a bit pointless really, maybe I'm wrong it's just thats the way it seems

Oh well, drink and be merry for 2morrow we do it all again

Just being serious for a moment..

The meaning of life is to propigate your species. Thats it nothing else...not art..not music..from a purely intellectual/scientific/Vulcan/biological veiwpoint It's just passing on ones genes and trying to keep your species viable..Nature is abundantly clear about this...so if you have sucessfully mated then technically you have won at the game of life...I know this may not sound right..but its true....

There is no point in life. It just happens.

If you have the correct conditions, life will flourish.

In our case, we are made up of protien molecules (DNA), which happens to be 4 BASE. All life on earth is 4 base.

Don't confues ideas with life. That is a different subject.

    For example, a simple idea:
    I think, therefore I am.

Religously, the point of life is to worship God (Well that's according to my religion anyway)

As said in the Holy Koran "We did not created the Jinn and Human but for them to worship Us"

Worship here does not just mean praying day and night,it has a bigger sense than that. Worship here means to do everything that pleases God,for example sleeping, eating and drinking (moderately of course),praying, working, providing for one owns family, and even sex is considered a form of worship in Islam,of course sex has to be done in marriage and not outside of marriage for it to be considered a merit.

and that's the point of life for you.

    Peace

Please don't take this wrong in any way. You religion seems to be the best described religion that I ever heard of.

But for the most part, other religions are basically saying that we, as humans, are created for the mere fact of worshiping God. In other words, being God is the most selfish thing there could possibly be. In the eyes of God, he is practically saying "Me, me me... It is all about me.". No matter how you slice it, you created your daily life around God. Put it this way. Could you imagine expecting everyone worshiping you all of the time? Do everything you expect them to do, and if they don't they are a sinner. Don't you think that if you are God, who could do anything, would create a way to be happy without the need to create a huge crowd of people to worship you? So, what does God do? He throws in a wrench and gives us Free Will. Now to me, that makes a game out of this whole thing. We are peons, all for the sake of God. God who needs to be worshiped. What a selfish thing to do.

God can do anything, right? If not, then he isn't a God. So why can't he cut the crap (skip life on earth) and create heaven loaded with good people? Instead, he has to make a game out of life and toy with us. Remember, he is God, the guy who saw World War 2 and 911, thousands of years before it occured. The guy who can do anything, including sitting back and watch world events as they happen, even though he already knows the outcome.

Before there were people, there was "just God". How can the the whole meaning of life not be a selfish thing for God?

    Calculate for yourself

What are the odds of intelligent life on another planet in our time? REMEMBER, this is just in our galaxy, alone. It doesn't count for the billions of other galaxies in the universe, nor does it calculate the millions of years from the past or future that life could have existed. It also doesn't include non-intelligent life such as a planet in its dinosaur (or prehistoric age). The odds are impressive.

If intelligent life does exist elsewhere in the galaxy, we would never live long enough to witness a reply, via radio radio transmission. The speed of light (or radio signal) would take too long.

I have recently heard a theory on the meaning of life. I thought it was interesting.

In the beginning God was all that existed. He new his power but could never really experience his power seeing as he is all there was. So he broke off part of him to make souls. The souls would then worship God seeing as they are his children so to speak. God was happy with that, but unfortunatly, our souls then had the same problem as God. They too had great powers and were omnipotent but they also couldn't ever really experience there power because all of the souls were the same. So that is when human life was created. The souls choose there own situation, they choose to be handicapped, they choose to be born in a rich or poor family, they choose there hair color, they choose whether they wanted to be a cat, dog, or a llama, etc. Then when they come to earth they forget everything and they experience life without there power so that they appreciate their power when they enter heaven again. Kinda like a king living as a peasant so that he understands hardships they face and will become a better king. Or how most people can watch commercials for starving children and don't donate money because they don't really know what it is like. We can be told, but we will never fully understand until we live like they do. The soul knows of hardships and joy but they must experience it to appreciate what they have.

This also means that there is no hell, or at least not how religion teaches us. Our minds control what we do on earth, not our souls. Why would our souls be held responsible? Hell is actually the regret and sorrow we feel when we die and face mistakes we made while living. You can kill and not go to hell as long as you don't regret it. If you aren't afraid of Jail and murder someone, then Jail isn't a punishment. But if you are terrified of going to Jail and murder someone, then Jail is hell.

That is basically it, there was more but I can't remember exactly how it went so I just omited that stuff to avoid confusion. I think this is a pretty good idea, I think it makes a lot more sense then to say stuff like "God gave us free will, but if you don't do what he wants you are going to hell." That isn't freewill at all. It's kind of like a cross between the Matrix and Being John Malcovitch.
