Looking for loopholes
Mike
Were you asleep in the Social Ed class?
The virus passes through bodily fluids into the blood stream. Toilet seats and cups do not act as vectors for the disease. The sexual organs are weak points as the skin is thin and the blood close to the surface. Blood products and shared needles can be especially dangerous although the former are now screened for Aids.
If you are going to have sex use a condom.
The disease appears to have originated in monkeys in Africa and has been around for many years. It seems to have crossed into humans, perhaps through a monkey bite, 40 or 50 years ago and has slowly cut a swathe through Africa ever since. It came to prominence in the West because it got into the gay community in the US, but worldwide it is just another disease mostly affecting heterosexual people.
There is a school of thought that it may have been genetically engineered back during the cold war - though by which side and what for I am not sure. Personally, I don't subscribe to such conspiracy theories. Albeit it is an odd bug.
