for the price of the combo, u could probably get a dvd-rom and a vd-rw drive for cheaper, then less wear on each of them, and if one breaks, less cost to replace/
well its not tat i want it to last me that long, my writer is LG 8x so i have to upgrade n i tot a dvd combo wuld be a bonus. so ne recommendations?
i know i was just saying that the 2 would be cheaper, and probably better.
52x cd-rw £20
16x Dvd-Rom £18
total about £40
Combo drive £35
on further inspection, about the same.
If you was thinking about getting a combo drive, & haven't got a DVD R/RW, then buy that instead so you could burn CD & DVD's but also view DVD's & CD's.
It will cost a bit more for it, if you get a branded name you will look around £90+, if not fussed about make you could get it hell of a lot cheaper. Now only if i could remember where i saw the item dead cheap
heh.. theres a coincidence... I had a LG 8X Burner too.Originally posted by winXPHE@15 January 2004 - 21:39

I just upgraded it to a MSI 48X Combo drive.
The only thing i dont like about my MSI is the fact that its not region free and theres no firmware hack for it yet.
And the Software bundle is a bit outdated... Nero 5 and PowerDVD 5
But it was very reasonably priced and does all I need, so I can't bitch too hard.
Just discovered theres a MSI 52X version out now. Check it out
I'm surprised...both Lite-On and Plextor have very good reps and get positive reviews.Originally posted by winXPHE@15 January 2004 - 05:02
