should i get a centrino or a pentium 4? i was planning on getting a p4 2.66 or more or a centrino 1.4 or more, which centrino speed would come close to a p4 2.66ghz or more?

im pretty sure i will go for a centrino but what would you choose?

oh and would it be possible to upgrade centrino's wireless networking to g ?

i think ti would be possible with some, but not sure if it is with all, as im sure they use mini pci, which im not to sure how expensive or hard it is to get, youd prob be better getting the p4 system, the celeron are geared my towards portability i think, and extended battery life, but the performance of the p4 is better, the centrino has a 1mb cache though i think.

yeah it does have 1mb cache, and it adds a lot of speed, and i want more battery life, would the p4-m suck a lot of batt life? i know the centrino has like 4 hours. and what would say a 1.5 centrino equal with the 1mb cache? which would be cheaper too?

    sorry if im confusing you

oh and this is sort of off the subject but if i go to my uni and they have 802.11b wireless, would it be faster than my home 802.11b? like would it be t1-like speeds?

my 1500 athlon laptop stretches to about 3.5hours depending on useage. prob about 2.5 hours normal/

edit: also some things like the high clock speed rather than cache,

If you want a notebook, one word.

    Centrino.

I am an AMD fan, but Intel really has something finally with their Centrino (Pentium-M). The Pentium4-M's just have their voltage cut, so I wouldnt invest in one of those, just got for a Pentium-M (Centrino) You can get about 6 hours battery life on good ones I believe.

Problem with eBay you don't know exactly what you're getting, and sending it back can be a piss about.

But, you can get excellent deals too.

EDIT: How much are you willing to spend also?

Have a look at this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=42204
