Is Bittorent Safe?

hey im new to bittorent and like im jus wonderin how safe it is?
like the way in which ppl are downloadin off you and all, is there anyway they might be able to access my other files or anything? all help is appreciated

Hi,

Nothing is safe on the internet, so if you want to be safe, sign off the internet and never come back on

As far as Bittorrent, it works different then Kazaa, Imesh, programs,

You cannot see what a person has on its computer unless that person tells you what is on their computer,

All that person does is share the one file with you, (You can download/upload as much as you want.)

One thing that Bittorrent does that other programs do, is show your IP address, but that is it, no username, nothing,

To add on to that: Format your hard drive, put a magnet to it, set it on fire, make it explode, put the remains in a box, then put the box in a safe, etc.

hey about that destroying hard drive thing, if i had an external drive, and the cops came, would it be legal if i smashed it w/ a hammer b4 they came in? would that be tampering with evidence?

Unless I am very much mistaken, hd's are quite well protected. I have heard of a hd that survived a fire and the govs managed to get the evidence outta it.
So unless your porn is something the govs want, you shouldnt have to worry.

i meant like if i kept downloading movies and the mpaa came to my house, then i would do it

dude, use the anarchy cookbook, and make some c4 line your harddrive with it... then hook up a cell phone (nokia-then hack it) and hook it's power into a fan connecter... keep the number... rig the ringer into the explosive cap... then call your phone... it goes bang... anywhere for only a few cents per minute...(assumoing you don't hack the phone...)

yes i HAVE done this before probably the best mod ever...

but no there is always a way to find out who you are... the bigger question is how hard they will look to find you... and how willing they are to spend money to find you... etc...

They don't need your hard drive to prove you did it, they'd just use information from your ISP.
