Whether Mozilla or Mozilla Firebird is the better option depends on whether you use POP3 email often or not.

That said, I personally use both Mozilla Firebird & Thunderbird - The reason being that I usually use one or the other, and by having them seperate I only run the one applet instead of two so starting it is faster
