Well, when a file is deleted it isn't phisicaly removed from your HD, Windows just removes an entry from FAT. With an app which is ment to recover data you might be able to get 'em back.

Yeah, that is right - there are still parts of the file which was deleted on your HD.
With special equipement you will be able to recover it, there companies which do that. For example after 9-11 many HD in the buildings where so covered with mudd that specialist recovered the data, and some data could be recovered.

But it is quite expensive I think, but If you can afford the money it is probably worth and if the file you was downloading was hard-to-find ...

internet.news, he doesn't have to hire FBI or so to recover data ESPECIALY a .dat files from K-Lite, ya know Maybe Symantec has such an app, just launch a search on Google for it and download from a diffrent comp, don't use your HD too much.

Definately on both counts. Norton UneraseWizard, which is part of Norton Sytem Works 04 can possily get it back. There are other progs out there like R-Studio Data Recovery but Norton's prob gona be the easiest. R-Studio has no Wizards, so you gotta have some know how to use it.

Try to minimize the use of the HD in question as much as possible to keep as much of the lost data as possible from being overwritten. The problem is gonna be that when you install a data recovery app, life being what it is, it'll prob land on some of the data you want back.

Simplest option: Just start from scratch. Redownload the files.
