I think that some of the posts here have kind of proved a point, but so far it hasn't been too bad. Just a few comments though:

Some of you seem to think its quite acceptable that the Lounge is "free for all" to comment on what they like - in one sense it's very true, it is free for anyone to make whatever comment they like, but do we have to accept the same people throwing dirt around, being cocky and nasty, spamming and flaming their "enemies" openly, attacking the same people over and over again??

I think not.

The regulars have gone... maybe never to come back - even that kind of remark gets "so what??" thrown back and "good ridance"... very sad indeed...

Nearly every thread is either spammed, flamed or just abused because someone else dosn't happen to like it, or maybe because they didn't think of it first.

Someone comes in here and makes a simple thread about how they feel or what they have done and it gets abused by someone else, instead of trying to understand why that person made it in the first place. No wonder there are so many crap threads arising, because there is no respect from others.

Most people here have nothing else to do and maybe, just maybe this place is the only place they can let off steam, or meet others who are just as bored, but what happens... they get attacked for being spammers or creating worthless threads. No thread is worthless, in the eye of the poster it might the most important thing of the day... a place to be heard and listened to. Maybe they are extremely unhappy and mobbed in the real world and this place is where they come to say things without being jumped upon.

Time for reflection i think from all concerned.

Agreed, there are some real bad threads, but what does that matter in the long run? Give it a rest from all the abuse and sarcasm and lets get this place back to where it was a long time ago.

I think you got the point. It is really disturbing that people take topics over wth spam or flaming.

I will start a little discussion in our team chat and try to find a way to stop this because spamming, flaming and hijacking topics is not fair at all.

Great to see that at least some people see it the same way.

I am sorry to say that I saw this situation was going to arise a few months ago. If members are going to be allowed to include ' I hate Americans' and 'I hate Australians' in their posts without expecting a backlash, then I think that they are very, very naive. This is an international Forum and should be treated as such. Not some little parochial plaything for a few immature adolescent students to flame the interrnational community.

The Mods have lot to blame for this by not stepping in and preventing the publication of some of the above statements. Everyone is proud of their own country irrespective of the views of other nations.

Now all we can do is try and build up that international feeling in the Forum. Try and see where we went wrong and if possible, redress the issues involved.

I've said this before and I'll say it again - if we are too strict then we get slagged for being censors, if we're too lenient then we get slagged for not doing our jobs. There is no fine line between these either - rather a zone where they overlap.

I am not talking about &#39;free speech&#39; here. I am talking about provocation. If you step in and stop this, then I am sure you will have the backing of the board. Anyway what happened to a wee PM in the right place. It works for me. I have PM&#39;d a few people on this board when I thought that they were &#39;overdoing it&#39;. The results everytime were satifactory.
