U can use several programs to convert .mpg to .avi, a good one is VirtualDUB, but there r tons of programs that do it fou U, just search in google...

Are you sure you want to do this?
Your sourcematerial is mpg and the output avifile will not gain in quality
unless you know very well how to work with filters.

The output file might not gain quality, but it will almost certanly become a lot smaller (If U use DivX 5 codec to encode it B) )....
