@[B][O][T]:Was that sarcasm?
it was kinda obvious; it was mentioned in the first post, but everybody kept on nagging about firewalls.

if you want it to look like a dns error, i'd advise you to use the HOSTS trick:
search on your computer for a file called 'HOSTS' (there's no extension)
open it with notepad,
and append this line:
127.0.0.1 www.the-site-you-want-blocked.com
127.0.0.1 ads.other-site-you-wanna-block.com
save the file, and your probs are over
no thanks, just call me a genius, i like hearing that
aight, genius
If you're interested in blocking ads, check out this Hosts File Project. It's updated often and is the most comprehensive ad blocking hosts file I've ever seen. Of course, if anyone has seen anything better, feel free to prove me wrong...
Kazaa Corruption Fixer --> Fix any corrupted CD image, archive, or video file you've downloaded with Kazaa.
Check out http://www.smartin-designs.com/ for excellent Hosts file info.
I use Phoenix (Mozilla) to browse, Hostess to edit the Hosts file, and eDexter to replace the blocked ads with 2px gif images and speed up response. I never see popups and few other ads, and page loads are very fast.
