Well This is kinda techie for a nubie but here goes. If ya wanna use the the output jacks on the cd drive for your headphones and don't want the speakers to play while doing so turn the volume knob on your speakers down and if it doesn't have one Click start then Control Panel then sounds and audio devices then put a check in the box that says Place Volume Icon In Taskbar and then click apply and OK. Now you will have a icon at the bottom of your screen in the taskbar that looks like a speaker. You now can just click that speaker icon and a volume slidebar will come up and you can turn the volume down on your speakers anytime and your jack on your cd drive should still play. If not do the same thing except use the speaker volume button when you go to control panel~sounds and audio devices and turn them down from there. Or like said before just plug em in the back of your tower where the speakers go LMAO.
