Since DVD-Rs are only 4.3 GB and normal DVDs up to 9 GB, you usually cannot make a 1:1 copy.
Programs like DVD Schrink can leave out certain things (like extra's) and/or compress the main movie a little, so that it will fit on a blank DVD-R.
thanks peapes i have tried these but a simple prog would be good
dvd clone will not do protected dvds
not that i would think of doing an ilegal copy of course![]()

This is why anyDVD is made for(breaks copy protection on the fly)
If you want the best possible quality you have to use Cinema Craft Encoder.
Programs that use CCE are DVD2DVD-R or DoItFast4U/DoCCE4U/ReAuthorist.
If you use Cinema Craft Encoder, you have to re-author the DVD,so I'm not advising these programs to you.
CloneDVD,InstantCopy,Nero Recode,DVDShrink,DVD2One are transcoders. They have their limits as regard quality.
InstantCopy gives the BEST quality of all,but it's the slowest transcoder.
CloneDVD is NOT good in any quality comparison, but can strip extras completely and has burning feautures too.
Nero Recode and DVDShrink use the same good transcoding engine and support burning with NeroAPI.DVDShrink also has built-in support for protected DVDs
