Thread: Help With An Error Message

  1. #1
''Invalid system disk, replace disk, and press any key''

The thing is I have a bootdisk, and I reformatted my computer. All I'm trying to do is reinstall Windows. I get this error when nothing is in either my A or CD-ROM drive as well. I'm basically stuck cause I have a blank computer but I can't install windows. BTW I am accessing this forum from the library so I won't be able to respond ASAP but I will be back in the morning. Please leave helpful hints, I want my computer back!!

I'm using my Windows XP Home Edition CD-Rom. That's the Windows that I am currently trying to install. I had ME before and encountered many problems so, I reformatted and am now in my current predicament.

when does the error come up during installation or before it?

I cannot even begin installation because this error comes up as soon as I boot my computer.

ahhhh that sounds like a plan. Forgive me I'm not extremely computer savvy, but BIOS is when you hit delete at the setup screen right?

Right, but be careful in there as you can do a lot of damage. You need to change one of the settings so that it looks roughly like this:-

    CDRom/floppy/harddrive

As you press the +/- keys it'll scroll through all of the different variations.
