In my opinion, Lindows trys to hard to be like windows. It hides so much from you that you might as well stick with windows to begin with. of course this was about 2-3 years ago that i tried it out.
my advice is to give Fedora Core 1 a try
go here for the torrents to the iso's
or to linuxiso.org for standard methods of download

Different distros are little more the kernel, the shell, and features that make distros unique.
I could take Mandrake, and turn it into Gentoo if I felt like it. If you want full customizaiblity, build your own distro.
Lindows is crap and will always be crap until it comes up with it's own respectable name and stop using microsoft as a scapegoat.
You mean coattail- (or is it dick-) rider, right?

If everyone that used linux would just understand that, they would look at it with a whole different perspective.
You pretty much summed it up. You can take any distro of linux and make it your own.............its just that simple.

You're saying Fedora will be better than Redhat in the future?
Also, how does updating the OS work?

Fedora IS practically RedHat. They are discontinuing (or already did, can't tell for sure) RedHat, and Fedora is next in line

Ah. Okay. I'm still a newby when it comes to computers, sorta. So what about updating Fedora? Is it like windows in that it has an auto update thing?

You update via the Red Hat Network or rhn.

No idea. But what DWk, shn, and others mean is that Fedora will be the superset of RedHat -- sort of like C++ is a superset to C.
