Pop-up Blocker?
Why not just use the HOSTS file. It's in like every OS, and you can just edit it to block ads and pop-up. There are existing HOSTS files so that you don't have to do it yourself.

This explains it and has a good HOSTS file
This is another really good site

Using a pop-up blocker is just another program to slow down your computer.

I am using it and it's good.

It also provides nice coockie management - deletes all coockies automaticly exept for the sites you added to the "safe" list.

HOSTS won't block the popup, it'll just show a blank one.

FireFox is by far the best. It also completely blocks all ads on the page.

Yep, and its just as annoying too. Years ago I tried an app that used the host file as a filter or something and well, at least it let you replace the blank pop up with a picture of your choice.

Firefox or Mozilla 1.6 (navigator only) And if you really want to be untouchable get the "nuke anything" extention. It will allow you to remove any object on a page just by right clicking and selecting nuke!

I use the HOSTS file and I don't get a single pop-up... without pop-up blockers.
Well, my file has over 20,000 entries. Doesn't it work if you have the server that delivers the pop-up on the HOSTS file? Because if there's no way the HOSTS file can be blocking pop-ups then what can it be?

luck probably. even if you have the server that delivers the popup in the HOSTS file, it is not designed to close popup windows....only the connection that is taking place, and all it does then is redirect it to your local host. so either you are getting popups and are too ashamed to say it, or you have a popup blocker and you dont know that you do .
