i went to start up my mobo "said" cpu test faild.
How do you know that did it speak to you, or was this like 8 or so bleeps for the memory test.
Only put in your memory, cpu (with fan), video card, keyboard and connect the power switch on to the board its enough to boot up ,if it doesn't then you have a problem.

a side note the connector that i use for my cpu fan and
case fan one of will spin up and then stop when the comp
    is turned on
How can it spin up without the power on ?
This to me is saying you have the h/drive or floppy cable the wrong way round.
yes mobo does talk to me
but nothing shows on the screen
i did try haveing nothing in but what you need
and sometimes it keeps saying the same thing or
nothing at all and does nothing

the side note was that if i have my cpu fan in one
of the places were it is pluged in when i turn on the
power it spins up for a sec or two and stops

    and there is no floppy

    power supply...

i kiled my power supply a few weeks ago and that was what the computer did when i tried to turn it on, the fans would spin for a sec then stop. try a different psu or try urs on a different computer.

    also clear the cmos.

the cmos is the bios...u either take out teh bettery on the motehrboard for a while or you find the clear cmos jumper (youll find it in your manual) and you change teh pins it is sitting on for about 5 seconds then change it back.

    the second way is better.

the power supply is new with the case
the fans all 3 case fans and the blower and cpu fan all work
its that the plug that i had my old case fan in well spin up and
stop when i turn on the power
right now i dont have any thing pluged in to that plug

the plug is on the mobo

ic...just try the other power supply to rule that out and then we will know the problem is cpu or motherboard for sure.
