Looking For Names (upcoming Poll)

Please suggest a few names for the old / new lounge. Once a few names are suggested i will turn this topic into a poll and we can let the members decide.

Serious suggestions only.

Please state exactly what you want to see !

Example 1
Old Lounge = The Chat Bar
New Lounge = The Lounge

Example 2
Old Lounge = Lounge
New Lounge = The New Lounge

and so on.

It will make it easier to create a poll this way

Call this one The Lounge and the other room The Bar (as it will get a bit more rowdy in there and, I assume that is where boab's bar will be located as well.)

Old: The Bar

(btw I realise I have completely changed my mind from my previous post regarding the name... ).

i think the name Lounge catches better the sense of an off-topic forum.

The lounge has to be renamed the lounge. There's 1,000's of members here, it will cause too much confusion, they'll see the name and do what they usually do. The concept of the lounge isn't changing, it's this one that is.

What about calling it "The Forum" ?

"The Chat Bar" is a nice Name.Already use to it.

The chat bar or the bar sound a bit stupid simply because we actually have no bar and it implies drinking which is not really relevant for younger users.

Old lounge = the lounge

New lounge = reception

old = chillout room/area

new =the lounge

I also think that as you say "if you are new here this is a perfect way to get started it would be a clever idea to put this section at the top or near the top of the 'community' home page.

In the Netherlands [ = Europe ] we say: Cafe, Kroeg, Bar and never use the word Pub&#33; I think its British only

SpamWorld / The Bull Ring was not added cause it&#39;s too aggressive. All other suggestions so far were added.

I think the new (insert term here) should be something along the lines of the "Study" as Nigel (I think) suggested; if the idea is to stay relevant and on topic, then "Chat Bar" would be about the least appropriate name possible-most bar "chats" or conversations are nothing but spam, so we should at least try to be true to the intent in creating this new....um...(insert term here).

I think change the new one to reception (and discussion or somthing similar) or mass-debate room or antispam world

Keep the old lounge as the lounge...... because that implies relaxing and chatting

To me the chat bar sounds silly if you had to do it at least write the lounge and chat bar not the lounge and thechat bar cas that sounds crap.

If you call it the bar it would be alright because before you didn&#39;t have the chat lounge.

Or instead of off topic talk you could have off topic chat.

and the reception and the lounge.

Aussie too. I think leave the old one the lounge and give the new one a different name. But I don&#39;t think it should be reception cos it&#39;s not just for n00bs, it&#39;s for anyone that&#39;s wants a halfway serious conversation.

Then perhaps we ought to consider folding "World Events" into your "Debate" idea; otherwise we may as well go back to our browsers or newspapers.

If issues are to be this new (insert name here)&#39;s forte, aren&#39;t we duplicating or overlapping here?

I don&#39;t see any issues with the new forum vs the world events. It&#39;s just similar cause the rules but in general The Debate Club is open for any topic (can be fun, hobbies, chit chat) BUT no off - topic posts within single discussions.

It&#39;s more or less a lounge without spam / flaming / hijacking.

Anyway... right now it&#39;s more or less just a name issue.

So my suggestion still stands:

I personally like the chat bar (old lounge) cause sometimes it&#39;s really like a bar (people drink and change within hours) but it seems that most people want to call the old lounge "Lounge" and rename the new one....

Sigh this is getting annoying

Anyway we need to find an acceptable solution...

Since &#39;The Lounge&#39; is the more serious of the two, I vote that the name should go to the new lounge.

7th, I like your idea(about Chat Bar) except the Debate Club sounds too serious and not so much inviting. People are supposed to introduce themselves there so it should rather be an informal and inviting name.

Okay-

My last word on the subject:

Move/combine the "place" where spam and other foolishness is allowed with "Funny Stuff" and make Funny Stuff a sub-section of it; that way, Funny Stuff would probably get increased traffic as well.

At least that would make a modicum of sense; an overall division between the serious and the non-serious.

If you can accomplish this, it really doesn&#39;t matter what you call them.

Well Rome was not built in a day, so I am not sure what the rush is to come to a decision...Why not leave things as they are for the time being and see if some one comes up with a better suggestion? The poll has only been open for a few hours, after all...
