Don't speak on things you have no clue about. It leaves members uninformed.

Fantasyx72 - Look into newsgroups, it's definitely a far superior method of file sharing. Max download speeds 24/7, no seeding or uploading, completely safe. Depending on what your ISP offers can determine if you'll have to pay a small monthly fee.

If your ISP provides no free access, Newshosting is one of the best and quite inexpensive. $14.99/month for unlimited downloading.

GigaNews is the best IMO and can be $19.99/month for unlimited usage.

If you decide to go with one of those, be sure to click one of the ads here on the site so FST gets the reference. (look at the stickies)

Also, a listing of the more popular ISPs and some of what they offer can be found here, but call your ISP to make sure - http://www.usenettools.net/ISP.htm

Newsgroups in all fairness is probably better than bittorrent. The downloads are faster and there's more material. Plus you don't have to upload. It is very good but it has it's problems. Retention is an issue, and it's a little tougher to find what you want.

I still use a combination of newsgroups and bittorrent to get what I want.

Retention is an issue, and it's a little tougher to find what you want.

Depends on your provider, really. I use Giganews which has 200 day retention on binaries and 1,500 days on text. That's about 6.5 months for binaries. I rarely find something too old.

I still use a combination of newsgroups and bittorrent to get what I want.

That usually works best. I download most everything from Usenet and get special items such as movie packs, etc. from trackers.

Since you're not going to read from the link I posted, I'll post it for you.

I know that Verizon does, but what is FIOS?

Well, it's still Verizon so I assume the above information is still valid.

No password needed probably. Would be the first time I've seen an ISP require one.

Setup Grab it and start downloading. Remember though, ISP speeds are notorious for being inconsistent. Just judge newsgroups by your ISPs speeds.
