i was wondering what it was and what it's used for
It's a card inside your PC for connecting to broadband. The majority of computers these days all have one.
Also used to setup a LAN (Local Area Network).

I have ADSL which i hooked up though a USB modem
Have a look on the back of your modem to see if there is an ethernet slot unused. If there is it might be a good idea to switch from USB to ethernet. It is much more stable.
I've never seen any problems with stablity before on systems using USB for broadband. However I do agree with you, that if the modem has an ethernet hook up, he should switch it to ethernet instead. Mostly though, why use a USB connection when you can free that up and use the connection just made for it.Originally posted by Samurai@22 February 2004 - 13:08
