    no it doesnt, see how it says plug and play monitor, that means that the driver is not installed, download the driver for your monitor or put in the cd if you have one, then restart, then go back to that screen and make sure hide modes this monitor cannot display is ticked off: then it will show the real ones.

    iits already been answered by adamp2p

    Actually, when you have vertical sync enabled, if you have a quality* graphics card, I think that 75 Hz is optimal, in other words, the optimal sync will be 75 frames per second.

    i have my desktop at 1152x864 at 85Hz and run my games in 1024x768 or lower at 100Hz

    Refresh rate should not affect performance. It is the speed at which data is sent from the graphics card to the monitor AFTER the processing has been done. If processing does not change the data between refresh cycles then the same data is simply sent again, the processing is not affected.

    If processing is so fast that data can change during a refresh cycle, you can get an effect called "tearing", because you get part of the old image and part of the new image. For this reason if you are using high frame rates it is usually advisable to use vsync to clock frame changes.
