please help, im always getting a yellow light, i have a mentor adsl modem/router and have forwarded ports 6881 - 6889 and 6969 with TCP via the VPN section of the configuartion site, is this the correct page, is so what does private and public ports mean?

i have tired 2 things

private port - 6881 / public port - 6999 / TCP

as well as

private port - 6881 / public port - 6881 / TCP
(this is repeated up to 6889)

as you can see i've tired forwarding the whole block as well as individually but still a yellow light, anyone else have this router?

please help, screen shots would be great, oh also i diabled all of my firewall software on my PC, help me get the green light! oh and i've left a couple bt running at home while im at work see whaty they are like when im home

By the way you forward the ports 6881-6999
not 6881 - 6889
Changed SPAN settings in sig a YEAR after it was removed

woo hoo!!! yeah i have a crap router that only lets me forward 20 ports, before i forwarded them i got 5k max
i forwarded ports 6881 - 6899 and 6969 and can now d/l at 100k....sweet

i was cursin bt a day ago but once you sort out the settings its brilliant
from what i can see there is no need to forward all the was to 6999

thanks for all the help, this forum is perfect

anyone that has forwarded and still can seem to get the speeds, i recommend uninstalling the bt software - shadows in my case - and then reinstalling it and it works fine

By the way you forward the ports 6881-6999
not 6881 - 6889
incorrect
that is leaving more holes open than you need
by opening 6881-6889 you have the possibility to have 9 different torrents open at the same time, more than enough, more is only a security risk
please don't recommend that as it is incorrect
