Another Philosphical Thing

Do you believe in any of the following things and if so how do they work or how do you veiw them? What makes you believe in them?


Fate:Are some things just meant to be?
Predestination:Kinda like fate but means that everything is alreay laid out for you from the time that you are born...there isnt any accidents..everything is meant to happen..
Luck:that events can be changed or altered by a immeasureable outside force and can be influenced by certaim lucky items or rituals...or that certain numbers are "lucky"?

whereas i don't think our lives follow a schedule, i believe that we can't control events around us but we can control certain aspects. I make the choice of what to eat for example (but do i really or was i destined to make the choice i did?)
If we all do have an unchangable destiny then who or what decides it?
i see another debate about God ahead on this subject...does this mean i am controlling my destiny because i can predict? or will fate dictate that i am to be disproven?

am not gonna go into the god thing in this thread unless someone else does...

just want veiws on predestination and fate and luck...

predestination pretty well rules out luck or fate...for those martix fans..cause and effect would be the main culprits of "who" sets up this veiw..we all just react to our situation and we are locked in to the way we react...

Luck..well i have already described these...

I love the part in Minority report where the red ball is rolled off the table and their discussion about freewill and predesitination...

was just wonderin cause we just got the lottery and have several friends who have all these lucky rituals and things they use/do to increase their chances...so i was curios how anyony veiws luck..and how it works..where it comes from..etc

I play quite often at the casino and I can tell you that there is no such thing as a lucky shirt etc. At the casino you have to make your own luck, nothing that you wear or bring with you is going to change that. Sometimes you win,sometimes you loose. After loosing a good bit of money I myself learned that lesson.

I believe that YOU have control of your fate and YOU are the one writing your own story.

Predestination imo only applies to robots.

They are programmed to do things and have no choice in changing thier fate. (and cows )

if i look on all the past events off my life they all place together good and bad almost perfictly to perfect as if it was already to be. deeply reflect on your life and the desisions you made you may thin kthat you had a choice in the desision but the desision was already made long before you ever began thinking about it, noe after looking back dont you think everything is just a little to "planned" out. but thats only my opinion and im a screwed up canadian

For years my lucky numbers were 13 and 42.
13 because you know how it's lucky for some? I'm one of the some.
42 because of the hitch hiker's guide and also because that damn number has been cropping up wherever I go all my life.

I'd bet on those 2 numbers when playing Keano.
A bet cost me $2 and returned $24 if they came up, and they did quite often over the years I played the game.

But those 2 numbers became even more signifigant when I met my g/f who I've been very happy being with for nearly 10 years now.

When we were introduced, I lived in a flat. It was flat 42.
After it became clear that we were going to last, I moved into her place because she lived in a house.
The number of that house was 13.

Fate? Predestination? Coincidence? You decide... I just think it's freaky and kinda cool.
