    title says it all.....................what are these little cables that came with my board?? they are SATA, but what is that exactly???

    It's a different way for your HDD to interface with the motherboard.
    Instead of the 40 pin IDE interface you can use the cute little SATA cable if your HDD is compatable.

    What make/model is the drive?
    The chances of the drive being S-ATA compatible are very slight
    On a given day or given circumstance, you think you have a limit.
    And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit and you think &quot;Ok, this is the limit&quot;.

    i got maxtor diamondmax plus 9 drives. is there a different connector on the back or sumpin?

    Yeah, there will be a different data connector and possibly a different power supply connector. My SATA drive (Western Digital WD2500JD) has a molex power connector (which is handy).

    Take a look on the back of your drive for a small data connector (about one inch long, about 5 mms tall)
    On a given day or given circumstance, you think you have a limit.
