    ok looks like my comp was slowly sliding downhill since i freed the 20 lost gigs...

    windows slowly started to fail... and this morning, when i rebooted my comp, the whole system fucked: the windows directory corrupted...




    shit




    what do i do ppls!!???? (btw to VB im not sure if this should be in here or in softwareworld...

    Run disk diagnostics tools from drive manufacturer. Check their web sites. And if the drive passes the tests then format and reinstall your OS.

    Some manufacturers provide lost data retrieval for a cost.

    One of the Norton apps includes a "Protected" recycle bin from which you can recover files that have "gone beyond the recycle bin."

    Easy Recovery and its on BT never used it myself.

    i trie dto use it on a file that the 'bin missed but found it hard to use because it changes file names and calls it loads of numbers, the only thing that stays the same is the filesize so your going to find it hard. Always back-up important things when adding anything hardware of a major software program .

    Spose thats not much help to you now though .

    With any of these recovery progs if it is your Windows partition it is important not to boot into windows before you recover the data. Otherwise your page file (and several log files) will probably get created on top of your missing files, then they will be lost forever.
