    i got my new hard drive on friday but the wire came 3 days late but thats not a problem just to let u know it all works fine

    The disk should not be visible externally.

    Are there any alternative mounting holes which would allow the disk to be set back enough to leave the external cover in place?

    Your hdd should be fine where its at, i think he was just saying that it doesnt look as good as it would if it were covered.
