Thread: How Can You Test A Cpu?

    i want to test this cpu in this computer i built so i can see if it works. how can i test it?
    ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Mobo
    Athlon XP 1800+
    1 GIG PC3200 DDR400 RAM
    WINDOWS XP PRO WITH SERVICE PACK 2
    200GIG HARDDRIVE
    16X DVD-ROM
    DVD-BURNER
    EXTERNAL FLOPPY
    LIGHT IN CASE
    GEFORCE FX 5200 256MB

    Turn on the power?
    On a given day or given circumstance, you think you have a limit.

    i took the fan off and turned the power on but nothing happened, the monitor still says no signal input

    Did you smell anything burning?
    How long did you leave it turned on without a heatsink?
    What cpu is it?
    On a given day or given circumstance, you think you have a limit.

    did smell ne thing burning, it is a amd duron 1.4ghz, about 30 senconds is when i left it on

    Yea, cpu's now adays will burn up in an instant w/o any heatsink
