Of course they are loud as hell
You didn't check the specs on web site before you bought 2 of them?
Noise: 52.2 dB(A)
Now you have 2, so expect something like 55 dB(A)

Man that is loud !

Good cooling starts with good design of the airflow.
I'm cooling a AMD2400+ here with 9 CFM. True, it isn't the coolest running rig, still it folds 24/7, and that is full load.

Try to cancel the order on the Vantecs. You won't be happy with them.

Mmmmm, I assume you asked me Rossco, when not, ignore this posting.

Total system cooled with 9 CFM
- 2.7 CFM extracted by the PSU
- 6.3 CFM extracted by the case fan ducted to the CPU heatsink.

While running Folding@Home (=full load to me)
Ambient 21 degrees Celcius
Case temp 25 degrees Celcius
Motherboard sensor 29 degrees Celcius
Harddisk1 32 degrees Celcius
Harddisk2 26 degrees Celcius
CPU 54 degrees Celcius

Keep in mind I spend at least 40 hours to optimize this system, and went through many experiments, taking temp./power readings all the time.

The system has 3 fans:
- 1 in the PSU, probably running @ 4.5 volts
- 1 case fan, running @ 10.5 volts
- 1 recirculating fan to cool the harddisks, running @ 5 volts

for the temp/ noise ratio may not be worth it.

Hard to tell.

The Panaflo FBA08A12L1A fan is quoted to be 21 dB(A) @ 1 meter @ 12 volts.
This system a lot quieter than that (low noise) fan, having a case and all.

At night,
when the heating, fridge, ventilation and all kind of other stuff is switched off,
with the rig running, and when my ears are used to the silence,
I can't hear a difference at 8 ft distance when I switch the machine off.

By day,
it is difficult to tell if the rig is running sitting at the concole.

When I had to guess a dB(A) value for this rig @ 1 meter, I would say:

about 16 - 18 dB(A)

I can still hear it though
