ok, let's say i own saving private ryan on dvd. how do i put that dvd in mpeg or avi format from the dvd to my hard drive? i do have a dvd rom. i don't have a dvd burner. i want to make that file like 1.5GB or so. what's a EASY way to do this? windows movie maker can do it? thx!

First you gotta get a program like DVD Decrypter. This extracts the movie into .vob files. Then get an encoder (something like TMPGEnc) and use that to convert the files to avi or mpeg.
