But if the plane stopped instantly the passengers would still be travelling at 500mph
thats why peoplee try not to stop them like that [/b][/quote]
Indeed, it would get messy, but if it's the ground that stops it then you don't really have a choice.

You've never been on a Ryanair, it's as fast as they can get them on the deck, "time is money" and all that.

Well think about it, a jet travels at around 500-600 mph right, it takes 23 hours to get to sydney from london with a 1 hour stop included
This thing will do it in 2 hours.
Thats approx 10 times faster meaniing it travels at 5-6000 mph

With out inercia like JP said, the human body could not handle that anyway

You'd all go thru the back of your chairs

Captain, switch on the inertial dampeners.
I think you're overcompensating, Heisenberg...

Anyway, I've been using hypersonic missiles for a few years in G Police anyway, nowt new there
On a given day or given circumstance, you think you have a limit.
And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit and you think "Ok, this is the limit".
As soon as you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further.

The previous record was: the american plane SR-71 "Blackbird" at Mach 3,5 (about 3500 kph)
