i need some suggestions. my old one (the 1 i got at bestbuy for free on blackfriday 2 years ago) is screwing up. it's not reading or burning anything.
    here's my problem:
on newegg, more ppl voted for the lite-on cdrw.
which of these is the best:
    1. sony
    2. plextor
    3. lite-on
    4. samsung

i've heard of lite-on, but not sure if they're good or not. they seem to be very popular on newegg. give some suggestions

i'm looking for something around $30

    Lite-on is right on...

But, brand truly doesn't matter 'cause it is probably manufactured by another company anyways. I mean, it's a crapshoot as far as quality goes. At least that's been my experience when I worked in the service/repair industry for 7 years.

    hope that helps a bit...

    peace.

imo, the name brand ones arent dont last much longer than the noname ones...

my old computer has a goldstar brand one in it which has been fine for 5 years...my computer is using a cheapo cd-rw which i got about 3 or 4 years ago and its been fine too. but my friend had a LG drive which died after about 1 year, maybe 2, but they were happy to replace it WITH A BETTER DRIVE. before he had i think a 20x10x32x but they replaced it with a 32x20x40x. and paid the shipping.

i wouldnt really worry about which will last longer cause theyre all around teh same, but try to get one with great tech support like LG has!

id go for a liteon or an LG if there are any, but u should wait till some more people post their opinions on the companies first.
