Try using the The Uniform Server .
It is based on Apache and is small but with lots of features...
You can also try Abyss Web Server which is also good.Features:
Apache2
PHP 4
MySQL 4
PERL 5
The smallest size with full functionality.
There both easy to use.Despite its tiny footprint (for example, the executable file size of the Windows version is less than 112 KB); it supports HTTP/1.1, dynamic content generation through CGI/1.1 scripts, Server Side Includes (SSI), custom error pages, and user access control (HTTP authentication/password protected files).
oh and all so i got a no-ip thing from www.no-ip.com
B)
Apache is free - I've downloaded it, but haven't tried it yet.
IIS comes built-in with XP Pro (but not XP Home edition though) and it works OK and wasn't too hard to set up (for me at least).
It does get screwed up some though if you trying playing with .NET and VB Studio 6 and IIS all on the same PC. I had to uninstall .NET and uninstall VB Studio 6, and reinstall IIS to fix it. aw heck, listen to the outher people here. I got mine working the way I like and wasn't using VB Studio anyway and could NOT care less about .NET, but maybe you'd want to mess with those other things.
p.s. - I didn't have any trouble at all, downloading, installing the current releases of MySQL, and PHP. They both work fine under XP Pro's IIS
Dare to think for yourself.
