I guess it was funnier when fans were fighting wether the band had sold their souls or not, theese days it's about wether or not the band is cloned by the industry to make multi-selling hits.... Limp Biz-kits, lol

Anyway, in my defentition of heavy metal, here's my top 5

2. KISS (82-89)
3. Dio
4. Ozzy
5. Judas Priest

P.S. I personnaly hate bands like korn & the linkin' parquettes, but I know other ppl might feel otherwise (don't ask me why). I guess they should be entitled to their opinions even if they're wrong....

This thread is great. I searched for some of the bands mentioned here and Iced Earth is awesome even if its a bit Iron Maidenish (which isnt a bad thing but I'm just saying that makes them not so original).
Savatage is pretty good too.

I categorize metal into screamers and growlers. Eg. Master of Puppets-Metallica(screamer) Black Album-Metallica(growler). I guess by 'growlers' I mean singers with deeper roaring voices.

So can anyone mention any good growler bands?
