Thread: My 40x12x48 Cdrw Burns Only At 16x

  1. #1
It used to burn at 40X and I was able to scale it down to lower speeds if needed but now it only says I can burn at 16X max. It is a Digital Research 40X12X48 CDRW and for some reason it doesn't recognize the speed I put in. I have been using 48X Philips CD-R80 cds and they are capable of 48X so why isn't my drive detecting that. I am using Nero 6.3.1.6

On a given day or given circumstance, you think you have a limit.
And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit and you think "Ok, this is the limit".
As soon as you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further.

Firstly he never mentioned what version he was using in the first place. Oh, if 6.2.1.6 is the latest version, why am I using 6.3.0.2?

I have noticed that several blank cd-r media companies advertise their media at higher ratings than they can burn at. One way to know for sure is to find the media that did burn at the faster rate and see if your burner will treat that media differently. I have noticed that TDK and Memorex pretty much burn at their advertised rate.
