Weird Internal Beep

hey ppl, when i start my comp it makes this beep and i know its internal ive opend my comp and checked to see where its comin from but i cant find any internal speakers is there any way i can stop this beep becuase its really annoying thanks. :helpsmile: Btw: im pretty shure my comp has always done this but my friends doesent and i dont know any other comps that do it

that speaker is known as the "PC speaker" or "motherboard speaker." it's usually attached to the inside of the case, at the very front. if it beeps once at startup (before Windows has loaded), that is perfectly normal... it's the old "beep! everything's okay" sound. if it beeps several times, especially in a pattern of long & short sounds, it's indicating a problem. one beep is normal, though.

if you do find the speaker, then yeah you could easily just follow the wire and unplug it from the motherboard. but i wouldn't recommend that, because a time may come when it needs to beep in order to let you know that something's wrong.

the beeping is normal, lots of computers have an internal speaker that tells you if you have problems. usually relating to hardware.

if it really bugs you then you can unplug it. it connects directly to the mobo inside ur computer. you willl be able to find it by looking at the bottom left of ur board and there will be a plug with 1 red and 1 black wire and will say speaker on it. just unplug that and the beeping will stop.

Lots of pcs are coming with a tiny sounder these days, rather than an actual speaker. This is a small cylinder about 1cm high and 1cm in diameter. It can either be soldered to the mobo or connected with very short wires (usually black and red).

In any case, you need to be looking at the bottom right of the motherboard.

If you've got one connected with short wires simply remove it. The plug has 4 positions but the wires are only connected to pins 1 and 4.

If it is soldered to the mobo there should be a jumper on the mobo (in the same block where the front panel switches and led's connect). Look for the speaker connetion point. Where a separate speaker/sounder would connect to pins 1 and 4, this jumper will cover pins 2 and 3.



In this example the speaker connector is the 4 orange coloured pins, but your's may not be coloured, and may not be in quite the same order.

i found the beeper but theres no wires connected to it its small round and black it says beeper beside it i dunno how to disable it plz help :helpsmile:

dont press loads of buttons then
this happends on mine i can never hear it cos i got tv on or music playing
